I have been there a few times, and this monument is a very moving piece of architecture. It was built to honor those soldiers who fought in the Napoleonic Wars. Apparently, there is an unknown soldier buried underneath this triumphant monument. Inside the arc, you can see the names of many of the soldiers who fought in those wars.
